In 1979, Floyd H. Allen and Peggy Allen Parker started Allen’s Electric Motor Service, Inc. as a small electric motor repair shop to service a customer base they knew and with whom they had a personal relationship. Working side-by-side, Floyd and Peggy managed the shop and took care of the office management until 1984. Floyd retired in 1994 due to health concerns, and Peggy purchased all company stock. Peggy spent the first fifteen years winding motors, learning the business from the shop to the office, and building a customer base that would form the foundation for the business Allen’s has grown to become.

Allen’s Electric was founded on honest business practices and personal attention to meet customer expectations. Peggy is committed to maintain that tradition. She admits, however, that male customers are taken aback by her presence in what would typically be considered a male-dominated field.

“They don’t expect a woman to have my knowledge and expertise,” Peggy says. “Because I’m a woman, I’ve had to overcome that with confidence and knowledge. I gained as much knowledge as I possibly could through schools and hands-on experience.”

Allen’s Electric Motor Service maintains membership in EASA and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. It’s also certified through the Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., which certifies electric motors for use in hazardous locations.

The Management Team

Clint Walker

Vice President

From parts cleaner to vice president: this has been the story of Clint Walker since 1989. Clint spent time learning the business as a child, and today has taken his position in management to coordinate employee talent with customer requirements. The son of Peggy Allen Parker, Clint learned every aspect of the company in which he grew up. As a teenager, Clint spent summers working as parts cleaner and mechanic. After earning a business degree, Clint made customer satisfaction his goal as an outside sales representative. Today Clint is Vice President of Allen’s Electric. He recognizes the importance and needs of each employee, and how each fits into the organizational structure. Clint knows that it takes all employees working together to achieve the complete customer satisfaction that the Allen’s team is committed to supply.

Superintendent Chuck Wise

Superintendent

Twenty years of experience in the shop as a machinist help Chuck Wise as he directs daily operations of Allen’s Electric Motor Service. The whole Allen’s team understands that downtime is money lost for customers, and Chuck manages shop assets to minimize customer downtime. Chuck is certified in IRD balancing both in the shop and in the field. He’s UL certified for electric motors and has experience in precision laser alignment. Specialty jobs including rebar rotors, restack rotor iron and stator iron, and rebuilding babbit bearings, are all part of Chuck’s résumé. Chuck gained primary training from his experience as a mechanic and winding technician.

Predictive Maintenance Manager Steve Cooper

Predictive Maintenance Manager

Steve Cooper has 25 years of experience performing motor repair in both the field and the shop. Steve maintains certification as a Certified Level III Vibration Specialist from the Vibration Institute/Technical Associates with fifteen years’ experience. He also maintains certification as a Certified Level II Thermographer and has experience with PdMA MCE offline and online testing of up to 10,000 horsepower motors for fifteen years. Steve is experienced in precision laser alignment, electrical surge testing, dynamic balancing, and motor current analysis. Steve maintains regular testing and certification verification for the Allen’s team.
